It is easy to detect if you have a family member or friend who suffers alcoholism for he will show different symptoms of addiction. These symptoms of addictions can be seen in different areas of an individual's life. It can be health problems, poor performance at work or at school, problems with the relationship with family members and friends.
If you're not an alcoholic, you still need to understand the symptoms of addiction before it's too late to save the life of your loved ones or friends who are alcoholics. Once you are familiar with different symptoms of addiction, it is easy for you to recognize someone who is suffering from alcoholism.
Speaking of symptoms of addictions, the first you will observe is that an individual that is alcoholics had already established a drinking pattern plus it consumes the high amount of alcohol. If the person unable to drink for a while, he feels uncomfortable and irritable. On the other hand, drinking too much alcohol regularly, the body will ask for more alcohol. As craving is so strong, one cannot resist on that. The body becomes so resistant to alcohol so the drinker won't feel its effects anymore so he needs to increase alcohol intake every time he drinks.
As the brain is so sensitive to alcohol substance, thus it affects the function of the brain and its memory. When the brain isn't functioning properly, the alcoholics will feel strange. Eventually, it affects his personality, changes become visible as the person becomes irritable, depress, change the mood easily from being a happy person.
In addition to personality changes, the person suffering alcoholism loses interest in activities that he usually enjoyed doing before. They will perform poorly both at home, school or at work. They tend to withdraw themselves from the society. In fact, most of them will try to hide their addiction to alcohol, especially if being questioned about their drinking habits.
Once the person reaches the point of alcohol dependency, he may develop health – related problems such as heart attack, stroke, liver problems, sexual dysfunction and a lot of medical conditions affecting the body, the brain, heart, and even the central nervous system. If these are left untreated, they can cause death.
Thus, alcohol causes damage to one's life that's why it is important to spot and understand these symptoms of addictions before it's too late. If you happen to recognize two or more symptoms of addiction to your life or on your friends and loved ones, better to pay attention and seek for professional help. Early treatment helps someone to recover from addiction easily.
